Cybercrime is soaring in Germany
The financial damage caused by cyber crime in 2010 increased 66% in Germany, to 61.5 million euros, according to German criminal police. The number of cases related to cyber-crimes (almost 60,000) increased by 19%. "Phishing" (bank identity theft or identity at all), jumped 82% (5300 cases reported), with an average loss of 4000 euros per person. Scams in general have increased by 20%, representing almost half of all crimes committed on the Internet, according to the German police.
