The market for video on demand growing at the expense of the DVD
With an average price of 18.42 euros, the DVD category "novelty" is no longer a recipe. In the first quarter 2011, sales of DVDs falling by 9.9%, while the Blue-Ray was up 26.5%, according to the barometer made by the National Centre for Cinematography and GFK. All available, sales of video sector reached nearly 364 million euros, a decline of 3.5% over the same period in 2010. This is the video on demand (VOD), which is best: over the same period, sales of VOD platforms on general rose 22.8% to almost 43 million euros.
